About
In this new lecture, Sara looks at the topic of intimacy in art, exploring how it was represented in different times throughout history and how the treatment of the subject changed. The lecture covers paintings from the 16th century onwards, touching upon representation of intimacy between couples and also the topic of self-intimacy and how we interact with our own bodies. The word 'intimacy' itself is challenged to show its multifaceted reading and how many angles it contains. Sara explores the works of prominent artists, such as Titian, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Gustav Klimt, Louise Bourgeois and many many others. With this lecture, you can dive into the representation of intimacy and understand more about how you personally react to the treatment of the subject and how that might be informed by society or your personal taste in art.
